About

The Genesis of an Industrial Revolution

Recognizing the need to uplift Pakistan’s export sector and modernize textile manufacturing, the Government of Punjab initiated the Garment City project through PIEDMC. This decision followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders and industrial experts, including a committee led by the Minister of Industries, Commerce, Investment & Skills Development (ICI&SD). The planning team studied successful models from Bangladesh and Vietnam to replicate proven strategies for rapid export growth and investment attraction.
The Genesis of an Industrial Revolution

Vision

To establish Pakistan as a world-class apparel manufacturing and export hub by providing a globally competitive, socially inclusive, and environmentally responsible industrial ecosystem.

Mission

To develop a Plug & Play industrial city that attracts foreign investment, accelerates exports, and promotes inclusive economic growth through best-in-class infrastructure, skilled workforce, and investor-focused governance.

Global Benchmarking

Pakistan currently hosts two major government-operated Garment Cities in Lahore and Faisalabad under the Ministry of Commerce, with combined annual exports exceeding $300 million.
