Pick & Drop facility incorporated for students & staff
The Garment City encompasses a total area of 90,000 square feet, with each floor covering 3,000 square feet. This well-designed facility features multiple levels, offering ample space for manufacturing, storage, and business operations within the textile and garment industries. Its strategic layout supports efficiency and productivity, making it an ideal environment for industry stakeholders.
Project Scope: Installing a 300 KW system on each building
Procurement: process initiated, Estimated Cost: Rs. 97.066 (M)
Hands-On Training: Led by the Industries, Commerce, Investment & Skills Development Department (ICI&SDD) in partnership with PIEDMC, TEVTA, C&W, Forest, Energy, and Labor Departments.
Flexible Schedule: Each batch runs for 6 weeks, with two shifts per day, accommodating 480 trainees per shift. Six batches are conducted annually, with a two-week gap between each batch.
Stipend and Certification: Trainees receive a stipend of Rs. 20,000 for the duration of the course. Graduates who complete the program will earn a PBTE/TTB certification, a recognized credential in the industry.
Women-Centered Approach: Priority is given to female participants, fostering empowerment and access to employment opportunities.
Employment Opportunities: Graduates will be considered for contractual positions, opening doors to a career in the garments sector.

Solarization of Plug and Play Garment City at QABP
Key Idea
In view of the prevailing energy crisis in the country resulting into excessive load shedding and low voltage, there is a need to look into the possibilities of using alternative energy sources, in particular carbon free energy like solar energy, wind energy and geothermal energy. Currently institutes in Punjab are practicing use of electric energy from national grid, which is not only unreliable but is also extremely costly. Energy department is cognizant of the energy situation in the country and intends to start use of alternate power sources, in particular the solar energy. Pakistan Geographical location and weather condition favors maximum sun light during the day and is ideal for solar energy production and use
Project Details
As a pilot project, the Plug and Play Garment City at Quaid e Azam Business Park (QABP) in Sheikhupura will establish two (02) stitching units, with a total potential capacity of 600 kW (300 kW each) and an estimated annual electricity generation of 0.84 million units. Since the building is still in the conceptual design phase, the estimated savings on electricity bills are around PKR 42 million, based on a tariff rate of PKR 50 per unit. The cost of the on-grid solar system is estimated to be PKR 97.066 million.
